One trend for fall that I’ve seen on the runway, in a few magazines and on a couple blogs is layering cardigans.

I am so excited about this trend because this is the time of year when layering is more about function than fashion. Don’t get me wrong, layering is a way to look stylish year-round. But now you want to bundle up against the cold outside without getting to hot when you get indoors by the fireplace.

The way you pull off this trend is by putting rather slim-fitting cardigans over each other. They should be lightweight, but not too thin to avoid stretching them out. Follow the color rules to match or contrast colors and patterns. Try using different necklines and details to add interest.
